The Sarma panniers are a roomy, practical set of bags that will equally accommodate bulky camp items, a spare set of clothes when commuting or groceries. They are offered in two sizes, the Sarma Large (20L) and Sarma Small (11L) and constructed with durable, waterproof fabrics and sturdy, replaceable components.

Features and construction

The Sarma panniers are made with durable, waterproof fabrics on the outer, a waterproof, ripstop nylon, semi-floating liner and black mesh pockets on the outside.

The semi-floating liner helps keeping the water out as it minimises water ingress through capillarity from the stitches. The roll-top closure keeps items further protected from the elements and will accommodate extra volume if needed. The external pockets are perfect to store objects that are regularly needed, or wet, or unanticipated – having some extent of volume flexibility to carry extra food or gear on a ride is always welcome.

A rigid, replaceable HDPE back plate stiffens the bags and the back and bottom of the panniers use a sturdier fabric to reduce wear due to abrasion.

The Large Sarma panniers feature a classic clip and hook attachment (Ø 8–16mm, adjustable horizontal hooks from 60 to 195mm wide), which is ideal for quick and easy installation and removal from the bike. The stock Small panniers use nano Voile straps to attach to the rack, helping reducing rattling. A clip and hook attachment can be retrofitted to the Small Sarma Panniers if prefered.

Panniers are prone to heavy wear as they protrude from the bike and can easily get caught in shrubs, rubbed against abrasive materials or bashed during a crash. The Sarma panniers are designed with repairability in mind, as the buckles, elastic cords, hooks and back plates can be replaced if needed.

Due to their construction, these panniers aren’t 100% waterproof and valuable items should be kept in a drybag.

The Sarma panniers are offered in a selection of colourways and fabrics, all being waterproof and chosen for their durability :

— Sunbrella Marine Acrylic Canvas

Sunbrella Marine fabric is an impregnated waterproof acrylic woven fabric that is initially made for boat protection. It’s UV, salt and mould resistant so will hold its colour and strength even after being exposed to the elements for a long time.

This acrylic canvas has a soft and matte appearance, close to cotton, which gives it a timeless look, while still being durable and more abrasion resistant than cotton.

— Challenge Sailcloth Ultragrid

Ultragrid fabric is made from recycled 210d nylon and a 5mm double 200d Ultra grid. This makes a lightweight yet durable fabric with a striking look that holds up to tear and abrasion well.

— X Pac RX 30

(262 g/sqm)

This fabric laminates a 100% recycled polyester outer fabric, X Ply fibres and a transparent, waterproof polyester film. The strong, Ply fibres that lye in a diamond shape between the layers increase the tear resistance and prevent the material from stretching in all directions. This fabric has a matte appearance.
